Julia is a PhD student in the Computational and Systems Biology program at MIT. She is interested in how we can use spatial measurements to improve our understanding of complex multicellular processes, such as aging. Julia received her Bachelor’s Degree in Computational Biology, with an additional major in Artificial intelligence, from Carnegie Mellon University. During undergrad, she worked on error modelling for long read RNA transcript quantification with Carl Kingsford and Rob Patro. She also spent a summer at the Institute for Systems Biology in the Hood Lab, working to improve taxonomic annotation of transposable element families using whole genome alignment. Outside the lab, Julia enjoys cooking, baking, and playing board games with friends.
